What does the word Balli mean? And why Balli?

Balli in the local language Kannada means a vine or a creeper. Etymology of the word can be traced back to the word VALLI in Sanskrit language meaning the same

The Balli property is densely vegetated for several centuries and the Balli family has been known to be living here at least for last five generations. The property is a slice of an ecologically strategic tropical rain forest and a part of the famous Western Ghats in southern India. Do you have good broadband connection and WiFi at Balli premises?
I would like to consider this wellness break as a WFH option too, just in case….

Taking clues from the huge shift towards WFH (Work From Home) following the Covid pandemic, Balli also decided to gear up for making our premises WiFi friendly even in the 25 acre forest in our backyard.
Yes we have good broadband and WiFi across our premises and we are soon to have more benches, huts, decks and hammocks in the outdoors too so that you won’t feel like rushing to go back to your city life. We do not want you to compromise on the intensity of the Ayurvedic treatment we offer.

Can I bring my spouse, children or family along?

In principle we would appreciate it if you are here with family in most cases as that will hopefully keep you more calm and grounded for a relaxed stay when your family is with you. Our rooms and facilities are large enough to accommodate families and children. Activities planned are conducive to adopting a healthy lifestyle (including a strictly vegetarian menu). Our 25 acre, safe to walk and be in, tropical rainforest could be such a welcoming surprise especially for children, couples and families to explore the silence and attempt an inward journey.  However, based on the availability of the beds/ rooms when you plan to be with Balli we might have to plan considering the real patients during the same period.

Is non vegetarian food and alcohol available or allowed at Balli?

Non vegetarian food and alcohol is neither available nor allowed when you are with Balli Ayur Grama. But let us remind you that it not because of any personal discipline but authentic Ayurveda practice insists on certain stringent rules and guidelines for it to work appropriately and we just want to ensure you get the best worth for what you are here for. So no hard feelings there, right?

Do you teach YOGA and MEDITATION?

Yes we do have a Yoga and Meditation teacher and Kalari trainer as well in Balli. We have an exclusive yoga hall on the forth floor. Soon we are planning to have meditation decks and huts in the forested area - possibilities for you to explore are endless at Balli Ayur Grama.

Please tell me something about the accommodation, facilities and food at Balli.

We have 7 suit rooms, 8 double rooms and 5 single rooms on 4 floors. At a time this could accommodate unto 21 people.

The Balli logo - does it mean anything?

Keeping in mind the word meaning of Balli i.e. a creeper or a vine, the Balli logo is inspired by the idea of a tendril in a vine. Typically a tendril reaches out to find support for sustenance and growth for the plant - quietly and intuitively. Similarly, we believe, Balli Ayur Grama is one place where all of you can reach out and seek support from for a sustainable, healthy and flourishing life ahead.

We decided to keep it all in a single line forming the stem and the B from Balli and a tendril seeks support from itself/ within - just so that it suggests continuity of that spirt. Try tracing the line with your fingers and you would feel that it goes on and on….
